ABOUT JUAN PERON

  • JUAN WAS BORN ON OCTOBER 8, 1895 IN LOBOS, ARGENTINA.
  • AROUND THE AGE OF 16 HE WENT TO MILITARY SCHOOL TO BECOME AN OFFICER.
  • Juan married Aurelia Tizón in 1929 but she died in 1937 of cancer
  • In the late 1930s Juan became an officer for the army of Argentina.

  • When in Europe, Juan began to admire the work of Benito Mussolini.
  • When juan was helping after an earthquake in 1944 he met his soon to be wife Eva Duarte.
  • In october 1945 he was put in jail by a group of military men that didn't support him but Eva helped get him out.
  • Juan Perón died on July 1, 1974 in Buenos Aries, Argentina.

HOW JUAN GOT POWER

  • Juan started off as a colonel in the late 1930s
  • In 1941 he joined a secret group called Grupo de Oficiales Unidos.
  • By 1943 he took the post of secretary of labor.
  • Over the next years Juan gained influence and in 1944 became vice president.
  • Juan reinforced his power as a national leader and in 1946 became president.

ABOUT HIS IMPACT

  • Juan increased employment and economic growth.
  • He nationalized banks and railways.
  • He centralized the grain industry and raised workers pay.
  • He paid of off foreign debts and had sunday-off policy for jobs.

JUAN'S LASTING EFFECT ON ARGENTINA

  • Juan has his own set of policies called Peronism.
  • He increased basic rights for workers and modernized the economy.
