About My Scientist:
John P. (Jack) Lockwood had three children. He was born in Connecticut in 1939 and he had a dog named Sparky that went with him to watch volcanoes. He spent most of his life in Hawaii.

Job Description: As a volcanologist they go to mountainous regions for good vantage points to watch over volcanoes. Jack lives on an active volcano Kilauea in Hawaii, which last erupted in 1983. He observes its current lava flows.

He uses cameras to watch the volcanoes, GPS to measure ground deformation,

and sesimographs to detect earthquakes.

Why I would like to be a volcanologist:
The thrill and adrenaline rush of monitoring a volcano. Knowing when it will erupt, and saving people and learning all the science of volcanoes active and sleeping. Also, I would love to live in Hawaii.
