STALIN'S EARLY LIFE

  • Born- December 18, 1878.Death-March 5, 1953.
  • He ruled Soviet Union-1923-1953
  • Children in his village bullied him. Because of this
  • Stalin gained his needs for respect from other.
  • In school, he went above average talents then got a scholarship.

STALIN'S EARLY LIFE

  • In 1898, Stalin joined a secret organization
  • supported Georgian independence of Russia

RISE TO POWER

  • Soviets were poor, hungry, and wanted a change.
  • Lenin, the Bolshevik leader, defeated the military govt. and gained
  • control. He wanted to make Russia a socialist country.
  • After Lenin's death, Joseph Stalin, his assistant, took control of
  • the Soviet Union.

IN POWER

  • Stalin stayed in power by taking people's basic rights.
  • If you broke his rules, you would be killed.
  • He killed about 20 million people who were against him.

HERO OR A VILLAIN?

  • During his era, most people hated him as a dictator, but some called him a hero..
  • Even though he killed 20 million people, Stalin industrialized Russia very quickly
  • by building factories, and improving transportation systems, and made Russia a strong
  • nation. Therefore Stalin was a hero not just a villain.
