STREP THROAT

SYMPTOMS

  • Pain or difficulty with swallowing.
  • White or yellow spots or coating on the throat and tonsils.
  • Headaches can happen.
  • High fever, may get the chills.
  • It may hurt to swallow. You may feel swollen, tender glands in your neck.

CAUSES

  • spread by person to person contact with fluids from nose or saliva.
  • Strep throat is most common in children between ages 5.

TREATMENT

  • Drink warm liquids such as lemon tea or tea with honey.
  • pain medications, such as acetaminophen.
  • Gargle several times a day with warm salt water
  • Drink cold liquids or have some popsicles.

PREVENTION

Get a new toothbrush after you are no longer contagious
