In the same way that the blueprints and laws inside of the town hall control the city, a nucleus controls the DNA, sending out instructions to all of the working organelles.

The nucleolus is where ribosomes, or for our purposes workers, are created. In a similar way, workers are trained and in a way, created, by the training facility.

The DNA located in the chromatin controls all movements and processes of the cell just as the blueprints and laws govern the city and decide how the people should behave.

Just as chloroplasts produce clean energy in the process of photosynthesis in the form of food, farms create the food that energizes the people of the city. Additionally, an interesting similarity is that chloroplasts are not completely a part of the cell, they have some of their own DNA and can exist without the plant. In a similar fashion, farms exist outside the scope of the city and are self-sufficient.

The mitochondria are the power plants because they convert the food created by chloroplasts into energy that is useful to the cell. The power plants, in the same way, convert raw and not useful energy into electrical power the city can use.

Vesicles are temporary storage areas that are useful in the movement of materials. Similarly, the moving trucks provide temporary storage as materials move across the city or out of the cell.

The central vacuole is a water tower because it stores water and increases the rigidity of the city's ability to be self-sufficient. This is comparable to the cells rigidity that is partially caused by the central vacuole.

Ribosomes are the workers of the cell because they carry out the making of proteins, the most important export of the cell.

The rough Endoplasmic reticulum is involved in the synthesis of proteins and contains the ribosomes, or workers. These factories refine and polish the proteins until they are ready to be exported to the Golgi apparatus.

In the same way that doctors and nurses are specialized to perform specialized tasks, the specialized enzymes found in the smooth ER heal the cell in the formation of membrane lipids and in drug detoxification.

The Golgi apparatus is the post office because it modifies, sorts, and packages proteins, or the exports of the cell.

The cytoskeleton holds up the cell and allows the cell to stay organized in the same way that the cytoskeleton organizes and supports the cell.

The cytoplasm is the portion of the cell outside of the nucleus, the portion that allows the organelles to move. In a similar way, the cars and people move around by way of the roads.

The cell membrane is the city boundary because it regulates what is entering and leaving the cell.

The main function of the cell wall is to support and shape the cell, in a similar manner, the city wall decides on the shape of the cell and keeps the city safe in the manner of being selectively permeable and only letting in certain people or goods.
