John Kay is a British machinist

John Kay invented the flying shuttle.

The shuttle does the work of two people more quickly

John Kay developed skills as a machinist and engineer.

BEFORE THE SHUTTLE

Weavers had to pass the shuttle through the wrap threads by hand

The shuttle made cotton faster and cheaper.

The shuttle increased cotton production.

Proved it can make cotton in seconds.

It sped up weaving, while the water frame increased the speed on spinning thread.

The shuttle was on wheels and a driver controlled it.

To operate it, you pull a cord that was attached to the driver.

John was un liked for starting conflict with other inventors.

John Kay died a poor man.
