• Recieved a patent for a "New Engine or Machine for Opening and Dressing Wool"

• Organized a club to avoid paying Kay a royalty

• Required two weavers seated side by side

• shuttle was passed though threads machanically
• Paddles were usd to shoot shuttle from side to side when a weaver jerked a cord

• Allowed weaver to weave fabrics of any width more quickly then two could before
