JOEL 2:12–14

'Yet even now,' says the Lord, 'return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.' Return to the Lord your God . . . Who knows whether he will not turn and repent and leave a blessing behind him?"

Although God is bestowing the plague on to them, he intends for them to repent their sins and return to him; in which he will have open arms

When the Lord's Day comes and the plague hits, God prophesies to the people and gives them hope.

Joel uses a recent plague of locusts as an analogy for the coming Day of the Lord, warning that repentance is required. This day separates those who love God, it (who will receive his blessings) and to the rest he brings destruction.

In our own lives, Joel teaches that it's never too late to turn to God. We all make mistakes and if we are truly sorry , God will come to us with open arms.
