PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Jones born in Indiana in 1931.
Jones grew up in the world where poverty was all around him. Even though he grew up during Depression in a relatively poor rural area he seemed to know that he was one of the poorest of the poor.
It was a source of great pain for him to be one of the poorest in the town and have father alcoholic
When he went to school, he was like every kids. He was studying with "B" grades
As a child, he liked to read about historian people, like Stalin, Hitler, Marx and others.
Also, he liked to read about religions, because he found that it's hard to make friends.
During 3rd and 4th grade he was reading books for 6th and 7th graders. He like to read
His acquaintances were saying that he is weird because he was talking about religion and death.
He and his childhood friend said, that his father was an alcoholic and had some connections with Ku Klux Klan.
At high school he was the genius. He was the best student in class and always did the best work.
He felt himself as an outcast not just at school but also at home
His father didn't teach him anything - even how to be a man
His mother was very educated person, but because of her husband affliction and gender discrimination were obstacles to her professional success.
He started his mission in 1953 in Detroit, by having the public appearance at a interdenominational missionary seminar and from then on, his reputation grew and continued growing.
His parents provided terrible role models for his future.
He needed money to buy an establishment and he started to work wherever people were paying him money. Selling monkeys were one of them
In 1954 he started to rent small building, which he called the Community Unity and here his first congregation appeared.
Jones felt abandoned by his parents, so his congregation of 918 people became his family. He tried to close the hole in his heart.
