MUDA Analysis Takeaways:

Our MUDA analysis pinpointed the 3 most significant inefficiencies in the oil change process.

Over-processing
- paperwork on iPad
-paperwork on paper
-paperwork on the computer

Transportation
-many laps around the car
- many trips to tool stations
- many trips to the office
- Kevin had to walk all over to find the necessary tools

Overburden
- one lower bay tech responsible for all vehicles being serviced.
- causes a bottleneck and upper bay tech's left waiting.


If we had more time, we would conduct a work sampling study to reduce movement time. In this study, the category of interest would be the proportion of time spent walking between work elements. Reducing worker movement would decrease Kevin's labor burden and the time it takes to conduct a Signature Service Oil Change.
