Bay of pigs invasion

  • To overthrow Castro the (CIA) trained a group of Cubans to invade cuba
  • This invasion proved to be a military and diplomatic disaster which means it was bad for the economy and bad for military forces

The Berlin Crisis

  • Germany had been divided in to communist and non-communist zones
  • Increased spending on military and increased the amount of armed forces
  • The Berlin wall became a war somber symbol of cold war tensions

The Cuban Missle Crisis

  • This brought the superpowers to the brink of a nuclear war
  • President Kennedy orders a naval quarantine a,round Cuba and he demanded that the soviet leader cease the making of the missles
  • The ships suddenly turned around and were called back by the soviet leader and this gave tremendous relief and the threat of a nuclear war had been avoided

Assassination of president Kennedy

  • On November 22, 1963 Kennedy was shot while riding an open limousine
  • The prime suspect in his murder was Lee Harvey Oswald
  • The warren commission said that Oswald acted alone but theories said that him and Ruby did it together

The Cold War

  • On August 6th, 1945 hiroshima was bombed
  • June 5th, 1947 the marshall plan was made to aid europe
  • July 27th, 1953 the korean war ended
