BAPTISM, CONFIRMATION, NEMESIS, AND POWERS
Heller was baptized by the very thing he sought to destroy: the virus that had killed his wife and daughter. Heller was on a patrol through the red zone when he was attacked by Alex Mercer, the man who was thought to have started the virus, and who Heller sought to destroy.
After seeing Heller's inner drive, Mercer infected him with an advanced strain of the virus which baptized him in his blood and gave Heller a new reason to live: to find out the truth behind Mercer and the virus.
CONFIRMATION
HELLER WAS "CONFIRMED" WHEN HE GOES TO A PRIEST FOR HELP
Heller goes to Father Guerra, a priest that he was friends with before the infection, for help regarding his situation. Guerra "confirms" him as he puts his hands on Heller and Heller makes a vow to rid the city of the infection.
NEMESIS
HELLER'S NEMESIS IS ALSO HIS CREATOR, ALEX MERCER
Mercer wishes to infect everyone and create an "evolved" human race, which goes directly against Heller's mission to rid the city of the infection.
