JAMES BRUKE

  • He was born in December 8, 1845, St.Giles, London
  • England—died January 8, 1845, from tuberculosis at age 35 :(
  • He was an orphan, never had a family.
  • He dedicated his life to work (smart guy) :)
  • Burke was hearing impaired since infabt

  • He worked on the River Thames as a water boy before beginning his boxing career .
  • He began fighting professionally in 1828.
  • In the 1833 title fight between burke and Simon Byrne.
  • Byrne was beaten so badly that he died three days later if his injuries.
  • This fight gave Burke the English heavyweight championship.

  • It didn't give any information in how he communicated with other ...sorry :(
  • Burke fought a few more times after this title bout and retired in 1843
  • After he retired he thought boxing lessons
  • Two year later he died :( because of tuberculosis
  • He was inducted into the Ring magazine's Boxing Hall of Fame in 1966 :)

  • He worked as a water boy to stay out of trouble (smart kid)
  • Burke stayed connective to the deaf community by going to a deaf church
  • Learned to fingers spell and write
  • And he was 6 ft 2 in tall and weighted 200 bounds
