THE WPA

  • The WPA was formed on April 8th 1935
  • The WPA spent 260 million dollars on the wages for workers in MN
  • 4000 workers in MN were put to work in the first year
  • 3 years later, 56000 men were employed in MN for the WPA
  • In November 1932, the WPA gave $8-a-week relief grants to unemployed workers

The WPA worked lots with the CCC at MN state parks

SOME JOBS THAT THE WPA ACCOMPLISHED WERE AT...

  • Charles A. Lindbergh State Park
  • Whitewater state park (with CCC)
  • Itaska state park (with the CCC)
  • And Interstate state park (with the CCC)

  • The WPA helped households, not businesses
  • The WPA also did projects like painting murals
  • The WPA had an eight year term 1935 - 1943
  • The WPA had a goal of trying to make MN a better place
  • The WPA's main job was to build and construct things

The WPA did not end the Great Depression, But it provided jobs when there were few available to every Day people.
