BORN. JAN 3, 1919. DIED OCT 24, 1972.

LIFE EVENTS.

  • Jackie was the first african american to play in the MLB.
  • He was the first person that broke the color line when the Dodgers started him at first base.
  • Jackie was drafted into the army in 1942.
  • Got honorably discharged in November 1944 due to a ankle injury.

HOW HE GAINED FAME.

  • He was the first african american to play in the MLB.
  • He signed with the Brookyln Dodgers in 1947.
  • He made advancements in the cause of civil rights for black athletes.
  • Robinson was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962.
