JABBEREOCKY

By Lewis Carroll

Jabberwocky
By Lewis Carroll

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe

“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”

He took his vorpal sword in hand;
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
He chortled in his joy.

“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
He chortled in his joy.

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Poetry Analysis

When I read "Jabberwocky", I realized that the theme was listen to people or take their advice because it really could come in handy.

The theme made the tone make sense because it was very playful. Because the tone is playful the word choice really makes me feel happy.

When I read the poem I think it's about a boy going out to get green pigs, but his father warns him about a monster called the Jabberwock that can do a bunch of horrible stuff.

But he ends up facing the horrible beast and kills it. Then everything goes back to normal.

I feel like it's about this battle because these words keep sticking out to me: " He took his vorpal sword in hand, the vorpal blade went snicker-snack!, and he left it dead."

They remind me of a battle between two forces. That's why they stick out to me.
