I chose Putnam because I like his no nonsense attitude and his calm demeanour

Putnam, also known as Old Put, was born on Jan 7th 1718 in Danvers Massachuettes

He was a General during the American War of Independence. He is widely recognised as being resilient and quick witted

He was in charge of the forces at the Battle Of Bunker Hill, one of the main battles of the revolution

Putnam died of a stroke in 1790 of a stroke. He reached for his cigar and lighter rather than ring the bell for his carer whilst dying

I first heard of Putnam when doing a project on the American Revolution
