  • Lebanon joined Arab nations against the newly Jewish state.
  • The war ended in July of 2006
  • Attack on Beirut airport in 1968 by Israel
  • Lebanon made a previous attack on a Israeli airplane.

JULY OF 2006

  • Hezbollah is a Shiite Islamic terrorist organization.
  • They killed three soldiers and kidnapped two for a prisoner exchange.
  • Lebanon made the first attack.
  • After a ambush, five soldiers were dead.

ISRAEL'S RETALIATION

  • Israel blockaded and bombed hundreds of Lebanon people.
  • Dozens of Lebanese died.
  • 1,191- 1,300 Lebanese died.
  • Israel responded with air strikes.

U.N STEPS IN

  • 15,000 peacekeepers in Lebanon.
  • U.N security council voted on ceasefire.
  • It would hopefully cause peace between both countries.
  • Israel continued strikes after ceasefire.
  • Israel wanted governments back up on ceasefire.
