This info session presentation is geared towards staff and academic advisors at the School of Information Sciences. In this presentation, attendees will learn about the iSchool, degree programs, admission requirements, and support services.

To help create a baseline, I would like to share insight into the School of Information Sciences:

  • Up to 12-credit hours outside iSchool
  • STEM-designated program

Our curriculum emphasizes a deep understanding of the interplay of people, information, and technology and reflects a professional commitment to advancing the well-being of society through the use of information. Our world-class faculty are leaders in the field who provide the knowledge and skills required for successful careers in the design and management of information systems.

3 required courses (with programming background):
IS 542 (data, statistical models and information)
IS 543 (sociotechnical information systems)
IS 561 (information modeling)

STEM-designated program, which allows international students to remain in the country and gain work experience through Optional Practical Training (OPT) for an extended period of time. Graduates of STEM-designated programs are allowed to apply for a 24-month extension of their post-completion OPT, provided certain employment conditions have been met.
