MAJOR ARTIFACT

LAWS OF GRAVITY (MOTION)

1: law of inertia- an object at rest will stay at rest and an object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon outside forces

2: acceleration-
Force=mass times acceleration

3: reactions- states that every action has an equal or opposite reaction

HOW DOES GEOGRAPHY

INFLUENCE THE CREATION OF THE 3 LAWS?

The three laws of motion were created in the 1600's because it was just the right time. Before the Renaissance no one ever thought of inventing the three laws of motion because all they were worried about in the Middle Ages was religion. The Renaissance started in Italy and by the time it spread to England a couple years later Isaac Newton had come up with the three laws of motion. It just happened to be the perfect time right after the Renaissance had started.

IS THIS ARTIFACT AN EXAMPLE OF

HUMANISM?

"...the laws of motion are such a part of daily life"
The laws of motion helps us identify emotional and physical processes.

HIS HUMANISTIC BELIEFS, FEELINGS, IDEAS

Isaac Newton's search for ancient wisdom makes him a humanist.
"...Newton's passion for alchemy and explained connections between this passion, Newton's theological beliefs, and his science."

QUOTE

" I do not know what I may appear to the world, but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me."
-Isaac Newton

This quote explains that he is a humanist because he is trying to say that instead of sitting around thinking about religion like they did in the Middle Ages he was sitting playing in the sand and thinking of everything and anything he could learn or do.

HOW DO THE LAWS OF GRAVITY

AFFECT THE WORLD?

People use the three laws of motion today to calculate the forces needed to stop a motion or to put an object in motion. Scientists and others use the third law to see the reactions to actions. The three laws of motion can be identified in the motion of an aircraft through the air.

Without the second law motion (f=m times a) most math problems wouldn't exist because they would be impossible to solve. To find the acceleration, mass, or force of an object you have to use Newton's second law
