PRESENTATION OUTLINE

ISAAC NEWTON & HIS 3 LAWS OF MOTION

BY: MONIQUE AGUILERA 9/11/15 -6TH PERIOD-

ABOUT NEWTON

  • Born on January 4,1643 & died March 31, 1727.
  • His dog set his laboratory on fire ruining 20 yrs of research.
  • Born premature, not expecting to live.
  • He was a Philosopher, Astronomer, Physicist, Scientist, Mathematician
  • Went to University of Cambridge
  • Was a stutterer .

NEWTON'S 1ST LAW OF MOTION

  • Also known as "The law of inertia" - A still object will remain still unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
  • An object in motion will stay in motion with the same speed & direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

NEWTON'S 2ND LAW OF MOTION

  • Force= mass X acceleration
  • Acceleration happens when a force acts on a mass.
  • The greater the mass, the greater amount of force is needed.
  • If you're trying to push a big box, you'll need more power to do so.

NEWTON'S 3RD LAW OF MOTION

  • For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
  • For example, if you jump off a skateboard, it pushes you one way and it went in the other direction.

NEWTON'S CONTRIBUTION

  • His discovery of calculus led the way to more powerful methods of solving mathematical problems . - askabiologist.asu.edu
