• Shelly Shannon shot Dr George Tiller once in each arm
• 2009 Dr George Tiller was murdered during a church service by Scott Roeder

INTERNATIONAL TERRORIST GROUP

• Has roots to the Catholic Irish Nationalism in the early 1900
• Founded in 1969 when they split into the official IRA when they renounced violence and the provisional IRA

ABOUT THE IRA

• They are based in Northern Ireland with a presence in all of Ireland, Great Britian, and Europe
• Backed by American sympathizers, Libya, the Palestine Liberation Organization. These groups provided training, funds, and weapons.
• Also funded by the black market sales of weapons.

OBJECTIVE

• Create a unified Ireland under Irish rule rather than brittish
• They use bombing and assassination of police and army to oppose British Rule

IMPORTANT DATES

• Bloody Friday. In 1972 there was an attack in Belfast. In one hour 22 bombs were set off killing 9 people and injuring 120
• In 1979 killed Queen Elizabeth II's uncle and three others.
