Characters
Character- A person in a novel, play, or movie.
A WRINKLE IN TIME CHARACTERS
- Meg Murry- The book's protagonist, a awkward, but loving high school student. Meg's greatest faults are her anger, impatience, and lack of self-confidence.
- Charles Wallace Murry- Meg's extraordinarily intelligent five-year-old younger brother who is capable of reading minds.
- Calvin O'Keefe - A popular boy and talented athlete in Meg's high school who accompanies the Murry children on their adventure.
CHARACTERS CONT.
- IT - The disembodied brain that controls all the inhabitants of Camazotz with its revolting, pulsing rhythm.
- The Black Thing - A cold and dark shadow that symbolizes the evil forces that Meg, Calvin, and Charles Wallace must fight against in order to save their father.
- Mrs. Whatsit - The youngest of the three celestial beings who accompany the children on their adventure.

- Mrs. Which - The oldest of the three celestial beings who accompany the children on their adventure.
- Mrs. Who - The second of the three celestial beings who accompany the children on their adventure.
- Mr. Murry - Meg's father, a physicist, works for a top-secret government agency. He works on experiments involving travel through space and time in the fifth dimension.
CHARACTERS CONT.
- Aunt Beast - This tall, furry, many-tentacled inhabitant of the planet Ixchel cares lovingly for Meg after she is nearly destroyed by the Black Thing.
- Happy Medium - A jolly woman in a silk turban and satin gown who shows the children a vision of Earth through her crystal ball.
- Man with the Red Eyes - A robot-like inhabitant of Camazotz who tries to hypnotize Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin in the CENTRAL Central Intelligence building.
MORE CHARACTERS
- Mrs. Murry - Meg's mother and an experimental biologist who works out of a lab in the Murry home.
- Mr. Jenkins - Meg's cold and unfeeling high-school principal .
- Sandy and Dennys Murry - Meg's athletic and socially successful ten-year-old twin brothers.
Setting
Setting- The place or type of surroundings where something is positioned or where an event takes place.
The story begins in the Murrys' New England farm house. The children's physicist father disappeared without a trace some time ago. Their mother waited patiently for Mr. Murry to return. The setting soon leaves earth, when Charles Wallace Murry meets three very old women who take the children on a journey across time and space. Eventually they reach the planet Camazotz. In the end the whole family ends up back home, even there father.
Theme
Theme- The subject of a talk, a piece of writing, a person's thoughts, or an exhibition; a topic.
There are many themes in A Wrinkle In Time. There is one that is the most important theme which can be found throughout the book, love. In A Wrinkle In Time love conquers all obstacles in the Murrys' path. Meg's love for Charles is able to free him from the control of IT.
Conflict
Conflict- A serious disagreement or argument, typically a protracted one.
This book has both internal and external conflict. An example of internal conflict can be seen between Meg and her fear and self-doubt. Meg is faced with lots of doubt when trying to find her father and rescue Charles Wallace. An example of external conflict is "The Black Thing" which threatens the universe.
Plot
Plot- The main events of a play, novel, movie, or similar work, devised and presented by the writer as an interrelated sequence.
A WRINKLE IN TIME- PLOT
- The Murrys' father is missing
- Charles meets three old ladies
- One night one of the old ladies comes to the Murrys' house unexpected
- The next day Charles takes Meg to meet the ladies
- On there way they meet up with a boy named Calvin, a popular boy at Meg's school
- That night the ladies return to the Murrys' house and take the three children on a journey through space and time to find the Murrys' father
PLOT CONT.
- The children travel to multiple different planets and galaxies, one of which is where they meet The Happy Medium
- The Happy Medium shows the children there planet and what they are trying to fight
- Finally the children arrive at a place called Camazotz where their father is being held but the old ladies are no longer able to guide them, they are on there own
- When trying to find their father Charles falls under the control of IT
- They finally find their long lost father
PLOT CONT.
- Because Charles is being controlled he brings his father, Calvin, and Meg to IT
- Meg's father tessers or wrinkles like the old ladies did to transport Calvin, Meg, and Charles to the different galaxies but he did something wrong and Meg was paralyzed
- On the planet that Meg's father wrinkled them to, Calvin, Mr. Murry, and Meg meet some creatures that help them
PLOT CONT.
- The creatures were able to contact the old ladies and they came to the planet were Meg, Calvin, and her father were
- They tell Meg that she is the only one that can get Charles back because his father was unable to wrinkle Charles with Meg, Calvin, and himself
- Meg is sent back to Camazotz to save her brother from IT
- Meg uses her love for Charles to break the control that IT had on Charles
PLOT CONT.
- Once Charles was freed from the control of IT the old ladies were able to wrinkle Charles, Meg, Mr. Murry, and Calvin back to their farm house. Mrs. Murry and Meg's twin brothers, Sandy and Danny were waiting for them to return.
- They never found out where the three old ladies went next
