I split the kids into 2 groups(one clapping and one stomping)so each group had one musician with it, and I clapped a third motif over the other two motifs.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t use all 5, but I could tell the students were enjoying the layering process regardless.
Although we didn’t have instruments for the few kids in my lesson, each child at the YMCA got to make a maraca and the chance to apply what they learned about layering rhythms and ISS motifs in a large “drum circle” with everybody.
