Interactionist's are very influential in the United States.

THE MAIN IDEA OF INTERACTIONISTS

  • They try to see how individuals react
  • How do individuals react to each other?
  • They attach the meaning to their actions and to the actions of others.

CONFLICT

  • Conflict perspective shows how people with money and power are controlled by other people with money and power

CONFLICT

  • Conflict perspective is a theory that promotes competition and change.
  • They study both violent and non violent
  • Based off of scarcity of resources competition for power/money/food ect.

FUNCTIONALIST PERSPECTIVE

  • Beliefs society is held together by majorities consensus
  • Two views of a functionist view of society is functional(helps run smoother) dis functional (disruptive)

FUNCTIONAL EXAMPLES

  • Functional farming, enforcing law, education
  • Dysfunctional crime,jobs which serve only to gain profit, ignorance

Functions are either manifest or latent
