One reason insects are so successful is camouflage. Insects use camouflage to hide from predators and to catch prey. The camouflage helps ensure that predators will not see the insects. It also helps insects hide and sneak up on their prey.
Another thing that insects use to be successful is smell. They send off pheromones to scare off Predators. The smell makes the insect seem unappetizing. The pheromones also send messages to other insects to inform that their is food around.
A third thing that makes insects successful is color. Bright colors warn predators to back off. The bright colors also mean that insect is poisonous and can kill the predator.
One thing I learned about the roaches are that they can climb on multiple surfaces. This would help them in the wild because they could climb up trees or on leaves to get away from predators.
A second thing that I learned is that swim very well. They can only swim for about 20 seconds or the water will enter through the surcease. That will eventually lead to their lungs filling up with water which will lead to death.
The third thing that I learned is that cockroaches don't remember where they have been. When we were doing our experiments the roaches didn't get the same times or faster. They basically went where they wanted not the same path they did before.
The insects have muscles in their thorax which controls the legs. The insect uses its legs for jumping.Aquatic insects use their legs for swimming. Their legs are very strong because of their muscles.
