WHAT ARE THE MAIN CAUSES OF LUNG CANCER

  • Smoking tobacco
  • Eposure to radon
  • Secondhand smoking
  • There is a total of 1.8 million causes

HOW MANY PEOPLE DOES IT KILL

  • It is the leading cause of deaths by cancer
  • In 1987 it passed breast cancer in the cancer deaths of women
  • Lung cancer kills more people than the three most common cancers
  • This year about 27% cancer deaths are from lung cancer
  • The percent has risen 3.5% between 1999 and 2012

HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE DIAGNOSED

  • Over 402,000 people this year
  • 224,210 were expected
  • 82% of them are 60 or older
  • Kentucky has the most people diagnosed
  • Utah has the lowest

WHAT ARE SOME SYMPTOMS OF IT

  • A cough that doesn't go away and gets worse over time
  • Constant chest pain
  • Coughing up blood
  • Shortness of breath, or wheezing
  • Loss weight and loss of appetite
