  • India has many river civilizatins
  • Mohenjo-daro is a major river civilization and does a lot of trade
  • Harappa is another major trading point and river civilization
  • The Indus River is the main river of india

CULTURE

  • In india the two main cultires are Hinduism and Buddhism
  • Hindu religion has a caste system (heirarchy) but in buddhism all are equal
  • Buddhism and hinduism were both founded in india
  • Buddhism and hinduism have both been spread by cultural diffusion

  • Samsara: the process of rebirth
  • Dharma: the belief that everyone has a task.
  • Karma: your deeds effect your after life.

HINDUISM VS BUDDHISM SIMILARITIES

  • Goal is enlightment in both religions.
  • Both have reincarnation
  • Both have many rituals and ways to worship
  • They both come from India
  • They both have been evolving for a long time

HINDUISM AND BUDDHISM DIFFERENCES

  • Hinduism: sacrifices, vedas, personal, live a good life, no 1 founder
  • Buddhism: no sacrifices, no holy book, all are equal, 1 founder

  • Brahmans: The priest, and the intellectual leaders and top class
  • Kshatriya: They are the warriors and kings
  • Vaishya: They are the farmers and merchants
  • Sudra: They are the servants
  • Untouchables: They are the removed caste

  • He made 150,000 people lose there home
  • He gave poor people luxury gifts
  • He asked for normal peoples opinion on how he should govern
  • He made laws to help the poor people
