IMPRESSIONISM

WHAT IS IMPRESSIONISM

  • Impressionism is about the nature of fugitive light falling on surfaces.
  • Their pictures are very bright and vibrant
  • Most of the pictures are mostly outdoor.
  • They like to capture their images without detail but with bold colours
  • One example of an impressionist artist Edouard Manet.
Impressionist art is a style in which the artist captures the image of an object as someone would see it if they just caught a glimpse of it.
Impressionism is about the temporary, the here and now, and not about the timeless, the forever.

what makes my art be considered "impressionism"?

  • You painting would be (usually) very colourful.
  •  features short, visible strokes such as dots, commas, smears and blobs
  • Modern life as the subject matter.
  • Quickly painted surfaces (or the appearance of quickly painted surfaces).
  • Separating colors and letting the eye's perception mix them.

is impressionism still "Alive" today?

  • It changed the way everyone looked at art.
  • It dawned a new age of art as it inspired freedom.
  • Therefore most art styles today could be inspired by impressionism
a style of composition (associated especially with Debussy) in which clarity of structure and theme is subordinate to harmonic effects, characteristically using the whole-tone scale. (fun FACT)
