COLLEGE CONTEXT

NORTHERN BAY
Northern Bay Story...

Were 9 individual schools all very close together and brought under the NBC banner. Explain why...

We're now 5 campuses with over 2100 students and 280 staff.

4 x p-8 campuses and 1 x 9-12

GOING 1:1...

OUR ADVENTURE

EARLY DAYS

There was no consistency amongst device integration / allocation.

Wanted to streamlined the technology but more so it's use to ensure learning opportunities were being supported by the technology, and not have the technology impact learning in a negative way.

We wanted our 1:1 program/s, as there are more than just one, to be purposeful and relevant in the context of how we teach and how students learn.

OVERKILL

1:1? TO MUCH OF A GOOD THING IS NOT ALWAYS GOOD...

had to see things differently

where were we COMING FROM / WANTING TO HEAD TO?

STARTING LINE

HAVE A VISION GOING Forward, AND PLAN FOR IT
...And in saying this it's not about 1:1, it's about effective technology integrations and that's the angle that I come in from.

The integration of 1:1 makes up 10% of the work in effectively embedding the technology for purposeful, student centered use.

STRATEGIZE

3 YEAR digital learning INTEGRATION PLAN

LESSONS LEARNED

DOCUMENTATION

POLICIES, AUA'S, WEBSITE INFO, CORRESPONDANCE
A very large part of a 1:1 program relies heavily on the policies you have in place to support that program.

AUA - acceptable usage agreements
BYOD - which we are in the process of rewriting.
PROCEDURES - as to what staff do when kids misbehave on devices that are there own...

There are also other factors as to how these are created and who has input.

Also need to look at what current behaviour/engagement policies are in place and how these can merge and marry the development of these documents.

For example we have integrated in to our AUA's for example our College CORE Values and the work we have done around SWPB.
