IVAN THE GREAT BELL TOWER-1508

  • The tallest of the towers in the Moscow Kremlin complex, with a total height of (266 ft).
  • Artistically this was comprised or traditional Russian Archetecture which used,
  • high domes and supported pillars.
  • They used geometric shapes create a credible structure that can withstand Centuries.

SAINT BASIL'S CATHEDRAL JULY 12, 1561

  • Construction under Ivan IV (Ivan The Terrible)
  • The building is shaped as a flame of a bonfire rising into the sky, which was the intent of the Architect.
  • The church boasts a diversity of three-dimensional architectural elements executed in brick.
  • These designs were derived from the byzantine empire and influenced by Islamic Empires

  • The exterior walls of the church are covered with elaborate carvings.
  • Interior painted in the 12th century under the influence of Orthodox Christianity in Russia
  • The cathedral survived the great devastation and fire of Vladimir in 1239.
  • Remianed the largest church for another 300-400 years after creation

KATHERINE THE GREAT 1762-1796

  • Reputation as a patron of the arts, literature, and education.
  • She wrote a manual for the education of young children,
  • Had multiple statues in her honor
  • Refined Art to Corespond with Orthodox Christianity
