THE IMMUNE SYSTEM HAS MANY DIFFERENT ORGANS INVOLVED IN IT
Your skin is one of the main lines of defense in the immune system to help fight of diseases.
How does the skin protect you from germs?
- Glands on your skin produces a substance that helps kill some of the germs.
- The first outer layer of your skin is called the epidermis and it warns your body of any germs that might enter your body
The nose also helps protect your body from getting sick.

- Mucous membranes act like a barrier to germs that enter your body.
- The mucous also traps viruses and dust.
- Mucous isn't just in your nose its in you mouth, throat, and lungs
White blood cells attack germs that enter your body

- they work together to fight off germs and infections
- Neutrophils: type of white blood cell that finds materials (like germs and infections) that don't belong in your body.
- Macrophils: biggest white blood cell that helps clean your lungs and other parts of your body. they also help the damaged white blood cells.
- Lymphocytes: they work on bacterial and viral infections to help the body stop them.
