MINDSET (n).

FIXED MINDSET

  • Intelligence/talent are fixed traits
  • Talent alone creates success, without effort
  • Document abilities, instead of develop them

FIXED MINDSETS THINK:

  • Will I succeed or fail?
  • Will I succeed or fail?
  • Will I look smart or dumb?
  • Will I be accepted or rejected?
  • Will I feel like a winner or a loser?

GROWTH MINDSET

  • Brains/talent just the starting point
  • Abilities developed with hard work
  • Love of learning
  • Resilient

It's not always the people who
start out the smartest
who end up the smartest.

A growth mindset believes that a person's true potential is unknowable and that it's impossible to foresee what can be accomplished with years of passion, toil, and training.

Why hide your weaknesses instead of overcoming them?

Why look for friends who will just pump up your self-esteem instead of looking for friends who will also challenge you to grow?

Why stick with what you know, instead of finding experiences that will stretch you?

The passion for stretching yourself and sticking to it, especially when it's not going well, is the hallmark of the growth mindset.
