not as expensive, just a lot of sales

Before I get started explaining anything, I wanted to go over this graph. This graph just shows the amount of sales per square foot of the store of the company. As you can see, lululemon is right next to apple, ralph lauren, tiffany & co. This just shows how popular the store actually is.

how did it become a 10$ billion dollar empire?

Lululemon became a 10$ billion dollar empire through many ways. Some ways are through popular culture, diffusion, their labor force, and many activities they do to market the company like nationwide conventions, and marathons.

the beginning

Like I said before, the first store of lululemon was located in Vancouver Canada just as a local yoga store. Once people saw the product on others, they really liked it and the sales in that store went up drastically. The brand became super popular, so they opened a couple more stores in Canada. Once it became even more popular, it spread all the way to the US, and in the major cities like NYC, Chicago, LA, etc. Once people from other countries saw the clothing, lululemon opened stores up in places like Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Brazil. It has quickly become one of the largest yoga clothing stores globally through contagious diffusion, with the hearth in Vancouver Canada, where they still have most of their sales.

contagious diffusion

Lululemon's brand has become so big throughout contagious diffusion. One person sees something they like on another person, and they immediately go to that store and buy it. This is mainly how lululemon has become such a large company.

nationwide conventions

Some ways lululemon has branded themselves has been through the nationwide conventions they hold every year. In the United States, lululemon picks a city that they want to hold these conventions. The conventions consist of lots of yoga clothing, headbands, waterbottles etc that are all on sale. Many people from all over the world surprisingly come to these conventions, and bring back the lululemon products to places that may not have a lululemon store. By lululemon doing this, they are marketing themselves and with everyone seeing the clothing people are buying and wearing, lululemon has globally diffused through contagious diffusion. The convention this year was actually held in Minneapolis.

Marathons

Lululemon also has marathons held nationwide. They are raising awaraness for the charity of their choice, and people run and also they have a little party afterwords. This marathon has become very popular and has also spread lululemons name throughout the world.

athletic wear & everyday life

Athletic wear has become clothing pieces of everyday life. People don't neccesarily wear their lululemon yoga clothes for actual yoga or workout. Athletic wear has become apart of everyday life, and has become a sense of popular culture throughout or world with lululemons help.

social status

Especially with young kids, lululemon has become a neccesity in any persons clothing. When people wear lululemon, it shows a sense of social status to others. And we all know, people love to feel like theyre wearing something expensive and have a sense of pride in what theyre wearing. Lululemon can be quite expensive since the quality of their clothing is so great, so people like to buy it to kindof show off to others their lululemon clothing. Especially with young kids, they feel like its a way to "fit in".

Labor

All manufacturing is done overseas in Bangladesh, Vietnam, and China.

why is their labor located here?

Lululemon's labor is mainly located in the developing countries where labor costs are low.

no human trafficking, child labour, forced or involuntary labor

Lululemon is completely against human trafficking, child labour, forced or involuntary labor, and they have a zero percent tolerance for any of these.

why do people pay a lot of money for their products?

The quality of lululemon's products are very good. Most of their products are made from cotton, down and wool. People often say that lululemon is the best yoga store with the best quality of products.

cotton, down, wool

where?
lululemons cotton is fron uzbekistan.
their down is from poland and ukraine.
their wool is from australia and new zealand.

why?

they get their raw materials from these places because they say that these places have the best raw materials for their products, and that the cotton down and wool are grown very well.

ivivva?

since lululemon has become so popular, in 2009 lululemon opened another store called ivivva which is targeted towards the younger age group from 6-12 years old.

conclusion

overall, lululemon has spread through many ways, mainly of which are contagious diffusion and popular culture. i also wanted to get across that lululemon uses developing countries for their manufacturing because of low labor costs, and that lululemon is against child labor, human trafficking, and forced or involuntary labor. so ya!
