EARLY LIFE

  • Ida b wells was an african american who born a slave in 1862 on july 16th.
  • She died in 1931 ons march 25th .
  • She was a journalist, teacher, editor, advocate, suffragist, and sociologst
  • She is most known for making a difference by documenting the lynchings.

On may4th Ida had a similar situation as rosa parks did when she refused to give up her seat on a train, she was dragged out. Later she used the railroad company and surprisingly
won, winning 500$

Lynching is the trial or punishment done by an informal group, often by hangings punishing ones who have allegations. Lynching practices discrimination towards African Americans

One of the biggest things she is known for is documenting the lynching in the us. Showing how often it was used to punish the blacks.

The murder of her friend drove her passion to eventually start documenting the lynchings. She was swarmed with a lot of press, and writing articles for company's such as "free press"

Ida b wells reveals an amazing example of tenacity to push ahead despite lives struggles. She used her knowledge as a teacher, advocate, mother and editor to her every advantage, she now has a museum in her honor and her life as an inspiration !!
