PRESENTATION OUTLINE
We are stoked to get the Ibis
Open your box and take out all of the materials and get familiar with the tools and pieces.
Take out your instruction manual and pin it to a wooden board out flat.
The following photos are from the contruction.
Cutting out the two fusalges
Cutting out the two fuselages from the template.
Creating more strength with a "doubler" for the dowel to hold in the fuslage.
The two fuselages all cut nicely and sanded.
The window cavity's are added to either side on the inside.
The joining on the two fusalges.
Continued construction of the fuselage
End of structural gluing for the fuselage.
The start of the all important wing construction.
The wings after being coated with crepe paper and balsa.
Flight Test
- Flying = 9.5/10
- Time in the air= 8/10
- Landing = 10/10
- Balance = 10/10
- Overall = 9/10
- Our Plane flew magnificently for 3 flights until we took it to the top of the hill where the wind was stronger resulting in the breakage of the join in our wings.
The events of the flight.
- The Ibis flew straight out of the hand going up to about 5 meters in height and then slowly descending to a soft and graceful landing.
Mistakes Made
- Breakage of the cabin cavity
- Lazy cutting
- Having to re glue a lot of pieces
- To forceful with fuselage
- The wing construction
- Throwing the plane in windy conditions
- The bending of the wheels.
What we did well
- Sanding
- Staying on task
- Finesse work
- Doping
- Fuselage construction
- Nose Block shape
How Could we improve
- Set out a task list each lesson
- Use less glue
- Take more time on finishing and wing construction
- Read instructions thoroughly
- Listen to Miss Vo more.
