When did it Happen?

  • The bombing of Pearl Harbor happened on December 7, 1941 8:05 AM.
  • Japan bombed Pearl City, Hawaii
  • America was under attack.
  • Japanese bomber planes were swarming over Pearl Harbor
  • Machine guns were roaring

Why did the Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor?
Their plan was to build an empire , a group of countries Japan would control completely.

The Japanese knew there was only 1 country that could stop them: America, the Japanese thought by bombing our ships and planes, they would eliminate America as a threat.

How did America respond the attack? On December 8th, 1941 Franklin D. Roosevelt made a famous speech. He said the date December 7th, 1941 would ''live in infamy'' meaning it would be remembered as a day that a great evil happened.

Our enemy wasn't only Japan, it was also Germany. Those countries had agreed to fight together. America joined England and France. Japan joined Germany and Italy. This war became known as World War 2. It was between 1939-1945
