what is hypothyroidism?

  • it is a chronic diease that affects your metabloism glands which determine if you gain or loose wight.

  • it is most common in females ages 19-40
  • for men its more commonly sceen during ages 14-18 so early adolecence

  • there is screening at birth but only for symptoms and often symptoms aren't shown this early in a childs life.

sympotoms

  • symptoms include :
  • fatigue
  • cold senistivity
  • constipation
  • most common unexplained weight gain or weight lost.

diagnosis

  • your doctor will take into account both your symptoms and the results from test.

treatments

  • levothyroxine (synthroial) prespition thyroid hormone.
  • hormone replace therapy.

can you die from this??

  • the short answer is no.
  • but just like any other sickness, if left untreated then you could die from complication of your heatlh but not the diease it self.
