Drought

  • The effect of a drought on hyenas are all of the animals die and can't get
  • water. Hyenas get food from lions because they don't like to hunt so if the
  • lions die they die.

Competition

  • Hyenas biggest competitors are lions.
  • Lions develop a niche with the hyenas by letting them have their leftovers
  • The drought causes the competition by decreasing the number of wildebeest.

Commensalism

Lions benefit hyenas by letting the hyenas eat the leftovers from the lion's previous kill.

Hyena Adaptions

  • Strong jaw

Hyena Adaptions

  • behavioral
  • Travel in clans
  • Are fast
  • Use laughing like vocalization

Hyena In Grasslands

  • Would get too cold
  • Can't scavenge prey
  • Not able to get main prey

Hyenas have fast and strong jaws which allows them to kill prey easily or stop predators.

Secondary Succession

A desert is affected by a drought by making it to dry to where wildlife dies.

During secondary succession after the drought the soil from the desert has already been developed which helps the desert come back faster.

Hyenas are not only affected by nature , but mostly humans.

Humans kill hyenas just because of the way they think of them.

Hyenas eat the dead bodies of animals which helps prevent diseases.

But people are overhunting hyenas to the point to where they might go extinct.

But if the hyenas go extinct they can't eat the bodies which would cause a disease that affects the ecosystem.

To prevent humans from killing hyenas we could put them in wildlife preserves to protect them from poachers.
