HYDROGEN (H)

  • Discovered in 1776 by Henry Cavendish
  • Hydro-gen means water-former
  • Discovered in London
  • Found in water and also found in the sun

Every element has its own interesting facts because all elements are different and the interesting facts set each elements apart. Hydrogen's atomic number and mass is one. Hydrogen has one proton and one electron

Hydrogen is explosive, reacts with water to form sulfuric acid, reacts with iron to form iron sulfide, burns to form sulfur dioxide, and it may lead to metal fatigue. These are just some of the physical properties of hydrogen. A physical property is anything that a person can observe about an element.
Hydrogen does not have a melting point or a boiling point and hydrogen is also colorless and odorless. Hydrogen has a density of .08999 grams per liter. Hydrogen is not phased by room temperature.

Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe. Hydrogen is found in the sun and most of the stars. Hydrogen is found in all of the water on earth.
Hydrogen can be found in a solid, liquid and a gas.
Hydrogen is found in more compounds than I can list, so here are a few examples: Hydrogen fluoride, hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen bromide, and hydrogen chloride.
Hydrogen is used for the hydrogenation of fats and oils.
methanol production, in hydrodealkylation, hydrocracking, and hydrodesulphurization, and also for rocket fuel and also for welding.

Hydrogen is responsible for seven percent of all power production in the United States.
Without hydrogen, there is no:
water (H2O), ammonia (NH3), or methane (CH4)
natural gas, gasoline, and all petroleum.
Without hydrogen there would be no such thing as earth or people because most importantly hydrogen is in water and without water, then there is no such thing as living things.

Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe and one of the most important. In conclusion hydrogen is the unsung hero and we don't give hydrogen enough recognition.
