MIGRATION

THE PROCESS OF MOVING TO A NEW REGION

PUSH AND PULL

  • Push factors are the reason for someone to leave an area.
  • These include a lack of resources and an escape from war
  • Pull factors are the reason for someone to move to an area
  • These include an availability of land or a return to homeland
  • People are also starting moving to urban areas rather than rural. Urban areas are cities. Rural areas are more out in the country.

TYPES OF MIGRATION

  • Internal migration is when people move but stay in the same country.
  • So say the Smith family decided to move from Missouri to Michigan they still stayed in the same country making it internal.
  • External migration is when people move but they leave the country or continent.
  • Say this time the Smith family decided to move from the United States to France this time they moved out of the country making it external

EFFECTS OF MIGRATION

  • Migration effects three main categories culture, economy, and politics.
  • Culturally when different groups are in one area they teach each other. They learn new foods, clothes, and beliefs adding diversity to a group.it may though also cause other groups to discriminate each other.
  • Economically if the groups fills jobs, or bring new talents they can help the economy. On the other hand a new group can strain a regions resources. By doing this water and security can lower.
  • Politically a new group can change policies and government. These new people can be viewed unwanted and dangerous and governments can back these causes. In other times a new group will bring valuable skills and have a chance to become citizens.
