2.
What is the muscular system?
The muscular system is an organ system consisting of skeletal, smooth and cardiac muscles. It permits the movement of the body, maintains posture, and circulates blood throughout the body.
3.
what are THE 3 TYPES OF MUSCLE TISSUE
Visceral (Smooth) Muscle
Cardiac Muscle
Skeletal Muscl
4.
WHAT IS VISCERAL MUSCLE?
It is the muscle found inside the organs in the stomach, intestines, and blood vessels.
The weakest muscle tissue
5.
WHAT IS CARDIAC MUSCLE?
It is found only in the heart.
It is responsible for pumping blood throughout the body.
6.
WHAT IS SKELETAL MUSCLE?
It is the only voluntary muscle tissue in the human body
Every physical action that a person performs requires it.
7.
The muscular system works together with the skeletal system to move the body.
8.
WHAT ARE SOME ILLNESSES AFFECTING MUSCLES?
Mitochondrial Mayopathies
Polymyosotis
Myasthenia Gravis
9.
WHAT IS MITOCHONDRIAL MYOPATHIES?
The mitochondria is damaged, in results in weakness of muscles, deafness, blindness, arrhythmia and heart failure.
There is no specific treatment.
10.
WHAT IS POLYMYOSOTIS
Polymyosotis is degenerate and inflammatory in nature. It affects the systemic connective tissue causing weakness and muscle atrophy.
The cause is unknown.
Treatment involves high doses of cortisone.
11.
WHAT IS myasthenia gravis?
It's an autoimmune disease.
There is muscle weakness and fatigue which are caused by breakdown of the neuromuscular junction.
It is rare.
There is no treatment.
12.
What are some interesting facts?
Muscles make up 40% of your body weight.
The only muscle that never tires is in our heart.
The hardest working muscle is the eye.
