Alternate Light Sources are typically used in crime scene investigation to identify many forms of evidence. Physiological fluids (semen, urine, and saliva) can be identified through their natural fluorescent properties utilizing UV light

This is what semen ad urine looks like under the alternate light source

Ballistic photography is the study and capturing bullets flying through the air or objects

can magnify objects as small as 10 microns up to 1000 times.

a centrifugal force, generated by high speed rotations, is used to separate solids from liquids

Scanning Electron Microscope

When the surface of a specimen is scanned by a beam of electrons that are reflected to form an image

When a image is derived from electrons that have been passed through a thinly sliced specimen

Fume Hood

Fume Hood

primary method of exposure control in the laboratory; also is a type of local exhaust ventilation system

Chromatogram

the column, gel layer, or paper strip on which some or all of the constituents of a mixture have been separated by being absorbed at different location

Spectrometer

a method to measure how much a chemical substance absorbs light by measuring the intensity of light as a beam of light passes through sample solution -

Solid phase Extraction

an extraction method that uses a solid phase and a liquid phase to isolate one, or one type, of analyte from a solution. It is usually used to clean up a sample before using a chromatographic or other analytical method to quantitate the amount of analyte(s) in the sample

Computers

Computers work two ways to help solving crimes by extracting digital evidence and databases

is a field that covers both digital and bit-mapped images stored on computer.

Uses systems such as fish system which analyzes upper and lower loops
