How To Build  a Campfire

  • i am going to show you how to build a campfire

materials

  • You need 3 types of wood: Tinder (pine needles leaves), Kindling (small sticks) and Fuel (large cut logs)
  • A lighter
  • Lighter pine (optional)

Campfire Safety

  • NEVER leave a campfire unattended, not even for a minute.
  • DO NOT start a fire in dry conditions.
  • Keep your fire small and under control.
  • Campgrounds=use local firewood

  • Evaluate where to start your fire
  • If the site has low hanging branches, keep your fire small
  • Fire pits keep your fire contained
  • You may need a permit

  • Teepee
  • Log cabin
  • Upside down
  • Lean-to

setting up your fire pit

  • Gather the 3 types of wood
  • Stack your extra wood away from the fire
  • If there is no fire ring use rocks or make a 1-in. Tall wall of dirt around the fire
  • Never cut dead or alive branches off trees

mAking your campfire

  • Gather tinder for the fire
  • Place tinder in the middle of the fire pit
  • Add kindling in a lean to form.
  • Add lighter pine to the tinder but it should be able to touch most of the kindling.
  • Use lighter and light the tinder.
  • When the kindling is burning add fuel (small cut logs).

keep your fire burning

  • Add more fuel to make the fire bigger.
  • Blow at the bottom of the fire to keep it going.
  • Add more logs when the other logs have burned up.
