PRESENTATION OUTLINE

HOW TO ADD AND SUBTRACT FRACTIONS WITH DIFFERENT DENOMINATORS

REAL HELP

So lets say I have this fraction above the first step you need to do is make the denominators the same

THE SECOND STEP IA TO FIND SIMILAR DENOMINATORS

  • The ten is bigger so we keep on doing 5 until the 5 group is bigger
  • The first match you find we will use

Looks like we found match 10!

SI NOW WE NOW THAT 10 IS OUR DENOMINATOR WE MULTIPLY THE SAME TO THE NUMERATOR

  • So NOW WE NOW THAT 10 IS OUR DENOMINATOR WE MULTIPLY THE SAME TO THE NUMERATOR
  • So now instead of 5/10 and 2/5 we have 5/10 because ten is the same it didn't change and 4/10

Now when we add them all together we have 9/10
