CONDENSATION

  • In the air around the cloud, water is gas in the form of water vapor.
  • In the cloud, cool temperatures form water vapor into a liquid.
  • This liquid is in the form of billions of droplets, called cloud droplets.
  • Scientists call this condensation.

WATER VAPOR

  • When water vapor in the air condenses into cloud droplets,
  • (Continued) become invisible.
  • What we see is clouds.
  • Whether the liquid will fall to the as rain, depends on many factors.

PERCIPITATION

  • Percipitation is the quanity of water falling to earth

SO HOW MUCH DOES A CLOUD HOLD??

  • Well, scientists estimate that one inch of rain falling over an area of
  • (Continued) one square mile is equal to 17.4 million gallons of water.
  • That much water would be 143 million pounds!
  • That is a lot of water!
