What does the fifth amendment do?


the fifth amendment states that no person shall be held to a crime unless in the presence of a grand jury, except in cases involved in military.

Who does it affect?

it affects every United States citizen because it gives us all the same freedom while dealing with any legal situations.

How is it used today?

It is used to make sure everyone receives a fair trial.The Government makes sure the due process is followed so you can't incriminate yourself.

it is important because it protects us from our rights given to us by the government.It also makes government harder to convict everyday people of a crime.

What are your Miranda Rights?

"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you. Do you understand the rights I have just read to you? With these rights in mind, do you wish to speak to me?”

This was a case that involved a 8.00$ theft. Miranda Claimed that he did not know she had a right to a attorney.He was released from his 20 year sentence and from that day they had to read the Miranda Rights



Overview of 5th Amendment

Out of all these slides we have learned that the 5th amendment protects many rights in any legal process. We also learned about the Miranda rights and we know that this Amendment will be used forever.
