WHAT DID THEY EAT?

  • The Hopi's staple (main crop) was corn
  • They mainly ate beans , squash, and corn
  • They gathered fruits nuts and herbs
  • Men hunted deer, antelope, and small game
  • They also raised turkeys

WHERE DID THEY LIVE?

  • They lived in northeastern Arizona

WHAT DID THEY LIVE IN?

  • Their houses were multistory buildings called pueblos
  • Pueblos are made of sticks, stones, and adobe
  • Adobe is a type of clay
  • They built their homes on top of steep mesas to protect them from attack

WHAT DID THEY WEAR

  • The men wore breechclothes (man skirts)
  • The women wore mantas
  • Mantas are knee-length, cotton dresses
  • They fasten at the right shoulder, leaving the left shoulder bare
  • They wore deerskin moccasins
