DISPLACED PERSONS

-What does it mean?-
When the jewish people were forced out their homes and didn't go to a concentration they were considered a displaced person.

-Where did they go?-
The people that weren't sent to concentration camps went to refuge camps made by allied forces.

-Where were these camps?-
The camps were formed in the urban centers in Germany, Austria, and Italy.

-Time / people-
From 1945 to 1952 over 250,000 jewish people took refuge in displacement camps.

-Afterwards-
At the displacement camps people would wait in line for their pictures to be taken. These pictures were put in newspapers out of hope family's would be able to find each other.

-Afterwards cont.-
Others that saw no hope in finding their families would either move to the Americas or try to find places that seemed untouched by the war.

-How a displaced person felt-
Most displaced people weren't all that happy that they lived. Even though most of them weren't in concentration camps most were still scarred emotionally.
