Dachau was the 1st permanent concentration camp set up by the Nazi’s. It became a model for other camps. Johavah’s wittnesses, Gypsies, homosexuals & criminals were also kept there besides Jews.
German doctors performed cruel medical experiments on many prisoners. Thousands of otherprisoners as forced laborers in and around the camp.
As allies closed in on Germany the nazi’s took prisoners away from the front lines to camps deeper within Germany. A typhus epidemic swept through the camp. At least 28,000 prisoners were murdered or died of disease. More than 32,000
prisoners were liberated from the camp on April 29,1945
